Flights to and from four islands in the Sundara archipelago were cancelled for a second day on Saturday as an ash cloud from Mount Keral drifted over the main air routes, the country's aviation authority said.

The volcano began erupting on Thursday night, sending ash up to nine kilometres into the sky. Volcanologists say activity has eased slightly but remains high, and more explosive bursts are possible.
